Maineville mayor killed in lawn mower crash, The mayor of a Warren County suburb died Monday night after he was hit by a pickup truck while he was on his lawn mower, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

William Shearer, 82, of Maineville suffered a severe head injury in the 100 block of Foster-Maineville Road at 7:30 p.m., patrol officials said in a news release.

Care Flight flew him to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, where he later died, they said.

The driver of the pickup truck, Victoria Vogel, 30, of Morrow, sustained minor injuries, according to the state patrol.

She was treated at Arrow Springs Hospital and released.

A preliminary investigation revealed her westbound 2019 black Ford F-150 truck struck Shearer’s 2014 red Gravely Zero Turn Lawn Mower from behind.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors, patrol officials said.

The crash remains under investigation.
