Nearly 46 years after the Supreme Court legalized abortion, the issue is still controversial.
Large crowds formed in Washington, D.C. on Friday for the annual March For Life rally. It is the largest anti-abortion demonstration in the United States and it has taken every place for more than four decades.
Many local people take part in the March For Life rally. Dozens gathered at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton in Swoyersville for a mass before heading to Washingtion, D.C. for the rally Friday.
In D.C., they will join tens of thousands of other pro-life supporters. The pro-life group is calling on lawmakers to end abortions.
“There’s people from all over the country, people with signs and banners and just standing saying, we respect the life of the unborn, the life of the vulnerable,” Christopher Calore said.
The landmark Supreme Court ruling, Roe V. Wade, was handed down in 1973.
